This paper addresses the importance of using modern geophysical methods in archaeological studies. Archaeological excavations are essential for obtaining scientific data; however, they are generally time-consuming, costly, and inevitably involve the destruction of archaeological layers. Moreover, selecting appropriate locations for excavation trenches is of great importance, as incorrect placement can lead to wasted resources and damage to archaeological sites. Therefore, the application of methods that reduce costs, save time, and enhance the protection of archaeological sites is essential. Exploration geophysical methods, particularly archaeogeophysics, enable the identification of subsurface archaeological anomalies and features in the shortest possible time. This is especially significant under current conditions, with the expansion of urbanization and the increase in development projects such as dam construction, roads, and building activities. Given the ancient nature of Iran and the presence of buried archaeological remains across many regions, conducting archaeological investigations prior to the implementation of development projects is unavoidable.
