Abstract A spatial information system or GIS is an information system that processes, produces, analyzes, and manages spatial information. In other words, GIS is a computer system for managing and analyzing geographic data that has the ability to collect, store, analyze, and display spatial information. The purpose of this research is to introduce new methods for surveying, identifying, and locating archaeological sites and historical structures using GIS in interaction with dam construction, which also requires the use of archaeological data, water resources, and watersheds. Therefore, this issue shows the necessity and application of this technology, namely GIS, in the surveying, identifying, and rescuing archaeological sites and historical structures in interaction with dam construction. In compiling and writing this research, the authors, in addition to study sources, used the descriptive-analytical method and archaeological and dam construction data related to GIS, and explained and applied some of the tools and techniques available in it. The present results indicate that the use of GIS and its techniques in archaeological and dam construction activities related to the topic under discussion will be very efficient and useful.
